Weekend In New England Happens Somewhere Down The Road

Dear June,

I knew you were going to come by last night. That is not me being snarky, sarcastic, arrogant or mean. It is just what I knew.

All day long I felt you close by and I just knew. It might sound silly, but I tried to wrap you in my arms and hold you tight. I wanted you to feel me and know that I am still looking out for you because I have never stopped.

Five years since the first time and a hair short of ten years since it all began. Sometimes it feels like a dream and sometimes it feels like you have always been a piece and a part of me.

I stare in the mirror and look at the face of the boy I once was and wonder if the little girl you were would have played with him.

I think about our conversations and wonder what college would have been like. I think about a million different things and remember the woman who would do anything to spend time with me and I smile. I think about my girl and remember conversations. I always enjoyed those.

Always enjoyed picking things apart and using our minds together.

One of the guys was supposed to hit Coventry this weekend. Almost asked him to go grab a photo of your old home.

This part right now is hard. There is a desire on my part to open up and share, but you don't give me anything in return and it makes me wonder if my gut is lying to me about you. I think you want to. I think you really do want to lean back in my arms and let me carry you again, but there is that little voice that whispers and says "you are being a fool." It tells me the best way to reel you back in is to be harder and meaner.

And I wonder...

These two songs came to mind.

"Some need gold and some need diamond rings
Or a drug to take away the pain that living brings
A promise of a better world to come
When whatever here is done
I don't need that sky of blue
All I know since I found you, I'm happy when I'm in your arms
Happy, darling, come the dark
Happy when I taste your kiss
I'm happy in a love like this

Theres a house upon a distant hill
Where you can hear the laughter of children ring
Guardian angels, they watch from above
Watching over the love that they bring
But at night I feel the darkness near, I awake and I find you near
I'm happy with you in my arms
I'm happy with you in my heart
Happy when I taste your kiss
I'm happy in love like this

In a world of doubt and fear
I wake at night and reach to find you near
Lost in a dream, you caught me as I fell
I want more than just a dream to tell

Were born in this world, darling, with few days and trouble never far behind
Man and woman circle each other in a cage
A cage that's been handed down the line
Lost and running beneath a million dead stars
Tonight lets shed our skins and slip these bars
Happy in each others arms
Happy baby, come the dark
Happy in each others kiss
I'm happy in a love like this"
Happy- Bruce Springsteen

"A restless eye across a weary room
A glazed look and I was on the road to ruin
The music played and played as we whirled without end
No hint, no word her honour to defend
I will, I will she sighed to my request
And then she tossed her mane while my resolve was put to the test
Then drowned in desire, our souls on fire
I lead the way to the funeral pyre
And without a thought of the consequence
I gave in to my decadence
One slip, and down the hole we fall
It seems to take no time at all
A momentary lapse of reason
That binds a life for life
A small regret, you won't forget,
There'll be no sleep in here tonight
Was it love, or was it the idea of being in love?
Or was it the hand of fate, that seemed to fit just like a glove?
The moment slipped by and soon the seeds were sown
The year grew late and neither one wanted to remain alone
One slip, and down the hole we fall
It seems to take no time at all
A momentary lapse of reason
That binds a life for life
A small regret, you won't forget,
There'll be no sleep in here tonight
One slip ... one slip"

We can still be friends! Please don't expect more. Who was on Coventry? I lived right up Hampshire hill.

I expect nothing and believe nothing. You would know the name if I told you.
